At only FJ$153 a night for a superior room, the Mecure is a great way to stretch the budget. If you are looking for somewhere cheap and close to the airport before catching a flight home, then this might fit the bill.

The Rooms

There are two wings, each with three levels. One side is Standard rooms, the other is the Superior. They both overlook the central area which contains the pool, children’s play area, tropical gardens and outdoor seating areas. Each room has its own private balcony, so you can sit out in the evening with a drink and take in the scenery below.

Standard and Superior rooms are fairly similar... the main differences are the Superior has a slightly larger bed, larger TV, and shower/bath -standard rooms have just a shower. Actual room sizes seem to be much the same.

Facilities

Onsite restaurant and bar, beauty spa, tennis court, kids play area, pool, tour desk, free airport pickups.

There is no free wifi, although you can use this in the lobby area (charges apply). Plenty of space for parking if you have a rental (they can also organise a rental car for you).

One thing to be aware of, is that the rooms are on 3 levels, and there is no elevator. So if you have trouble with stairs, then it might be best to ask for a room on the ground floor.

Mercure hotel menu
Restaurant: I haven't eaten at the restaurant, so unable to comment on the quality. Just click on the image to get a lightbox view of the menu. it seems like they do a decent range of food at pretty average hotel prices, but there are numerous good restaurants within easy walking distance. For example, only 100 meters or so down the road is the JETPOINT shopping centre, and there are 3 good restaurants that I know of there. One Indian, a seafood, and a Korean BBQ.

Would we stay here? Probably, with a few provisos. We would need to be on the ground floor and not have to deal with flights of stairs carrying suitcases. Also, I have seen numerous reviews mentioning that the A/C can be an issue in some of the rooms. So I would want to ensure we had decent A/C especially for those hot humid nights. And finally, I might skip the "free airport pickups" and make my own way there. The cheap hotels in Nadi are notorious for arriving late, or not at all.

PROS: Convenient location, decent price, close to shopping center, supermarket, cinema. Good parking. Decent play area for kids. Pool, onsite restaurant.

CONS: Complaints about room and housekeeping standards, A/C not working and unhelpful staff. No free wifi, and even if you buy access, it is very slow and only works downstairs near the lobby area.
